What does low VOC mean?
VOCs are volatile organic compounds—substances that can enter the air from building materials. For flooring, low VOC refers to limited emissions under specified testing conditions. A documented certification helps you compare that performance alongside color, durability, and how the floor will be installed.
What FloorScore covers
FloorScore® is an independent certification for indoor emissions. It evaluates 35 specified VOCs, including formaldehyde, against its testing criteria. It gives you a measurable reference for flooring selection; it does not mean zero emissions or guarantee a particular indoor-air result.
